I joined Doris IT in February 2016 with my first and current assignment being a Project Analyst role in a large consumer co-operative. My role is split in to two parts; a PMO Analyst and a Test Manager. There are many tasks I carry out as part of the PMO function, the main one includes collating a central repository of templates and documents. I maintain these documents and update them to a consistent format so project managers can utilise these for their projects. Other duties involve documenting processes throughout the project lifecycle, taking minutes in meetings and gathering information for team meetings; with no two days the same.
The Test Manager position is a very demanding role which involves gathering requirements and information from numerous stakeholders of the project. I must extract this information and maximise its use, in order to successfully complete testing without defects; whilst identifying risks and mitigating them along the way. It was extremely daunting having to coordinate and lead meetings with these stakeholders via various channels and forums at first, however now it is just one part of the role that I carry out on a weekly basis.
Thanks to the opportunity from Doris, and the guidance from experienced mentors, I am now in a position where I am gaining valuable experience within the IT industry and helping build my career.
